Most municipalities that require a permit also require a sump pump. The pump is normally discharged to the city storm sewer or a drywell system that we install. There are a few circumstances that require an alternative connection, such as trenching a line to a culvert drain, natural watershed....ect.
Most of our basement waterproofing installations require a sump pump as well. We only install the 3/4 horse Pitboss pumps and do not recommend any pump smaller than a 1/3 horse. The 3/4 horsepower PitBoss pump is capable of discharging over 4,000 gallons of water per hour on a 10 foot lift.
The location of the sump pump crock is usually in an inconspicuous corner of the home, normally near utilities, and connected to the downspout leader (storm sewer). This allows the water around the foundation to exit the home quickly.
Pump installations require an electrical circuit to be installed. We normally install the electrical outlet, but in some circumstances the customer is responsible to supply a 20 amp circuit for power to the pump. Please ask your basement waterproofing consultant for more details if required.
